Welcome to the first episode of Thoughts on the Table! It’s very exciting for me to switch format, and venture into making a podcast. As always, I will investigate why food and food culture are the way they are, and in particular why they are different between Italy and North America. This time, my friend Jason, Canadian born and raised, will join me.
Is the perception of salt absolute or subjective? Is there such a thing as a spicy taste? Does eating spicy food damage our taste buds? Join Paolo and Jason as they answer these questions and more in this episode on flavor titled “Salty and Spicy”. Thanks for listening!
I LOVED this audio blog! What a great idea!! So nice to hear your voice too. π I also like the idea of the "conversation with a friend", it makes you feel like we are all there. On another note… I use only Italian salt as I find it "saltier" than local salt. Yep, I know I sound crazy, but I use 1/3 less salt this way. π
Thanks Manu! I'm glad you liked it – I've always wanted to do it, but I didn't think I would have had so much fun! If there's interest, I'll keep going π
Speaking of salt, I know what you mean – I've experienced the same here in Canada. Can you check the ingredients? I'm sure that the less salty salt is not just sodium chloride.
